Reasons Green Day Never Stop Writing Political Themed Songs

JAKARTA - Green Day revealed the reason they had stopped for a moment writing political-themed lyrics and are now returning to their roots in the upcoming album.

The discussion came after Green Day announced their upcoming 14th studio album,tenders. An album they described 'thiking the gap' between Donny and American totaling.

In promoting future releases, three Green Day personnel; Billie-Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirt, and Tré Cool recalled how the songs brought them back to the roots of their politics, which they have left behind in recent years.

Discussing the main single The American Dream Is Killing Me as one of the things that marked their return to writing a politically motivated song, Armstrong recalls how the song was originally written during a session for their last album, Father Of All Mothers, but has not yet been disclosed until its members feel ready to take a bigger political stance.

"For Father Of All... we don't want to go into politics because it's very clear. This is a result that is not too big because we have just had bad politics and a bad split in the United States," he told 102.1 The Edge.

"But this time, we took it out and it feels like it's the right time for that," Armstrong continued.

"We stay away from politics for a while [because] we don't want to be like other experts on CNN who accuse each other. But political songs... It takes a lot of heart to do that."

I think if you keep doing it for the sake of doing it, just because you're angry, then you don't take your heart. Then it just becomes part of everyone's complaints. Special and inspiring moments are needed to really get moments like The American Dream Is Killing Me.

This single is the first to be shared from badminton, and since then followed by the song Look Ma, No Brains!. The album nights itself is scheduled to be released on January 19, 2024 via Reprise/Warner.
