The Lemmy Kilmister Statue Will Soon Be Established In Its Hometown

JAKARTA - According to Stoke OnTrentLive, the frontman motorcyclehead statue, Lemmy Kilmister, will be built in its birthplace in England.

Lemmy was born with the name Ian Kilmister in Burslem, one of the cities that was part of the city of Stoke-On-Trent in Staffordshire, before he and his family moved to Newcastle-under-Lyme.

If approved by the Stoke-on-Trent City Council, the statue will be established inside the Burslem's Market Place.

The statue will be intervening on the clay of Staffordshire by international famous local stakeholder Andy Edwards.

To be mounted on an eight-foot-high base (2.5 m), the statue is designed to resemble a protrusive stage. The poses will be made from a stiff stainless steel frame coated with a black stake and will contain the Motorhead logo as well as personal details and careers about Lemmy.

A mock-up submitted with a planning application for Lemmy's statue proposal as seen in Burslem's Market Place can be seen below.

The planning application states: "It is estimated that this project could eventually be expanded to include branded cafes, bars, visitor centers, etc to attract more visitors from across the country and, perhaps, from around the world. While Lemmy may not be a historical figure like that is usually commemorated with such a memorial, it is important to know the icon of this influential culture and its relationship with this historic city.

The statue will be made from traditional ingredients, with the appropriate size and matches the surrounding area. Therefore, the installation is believed to have a positive overall impact on the Market and Conservation Areas.

"Similarly, the proposed statue will not have a negative impact on the registered and historic buildings around it. This development aims to increase the public sphere and bring in more visitors and revenue to the area, which is expected to lead to further investment and regeneration of this historic city of Potteries."

Lemmy died on December 28, 2015 at the age of 70 shortly after being diagnosed with cancer.
