JAKARTA - Nadya Fatira's name became known in the national music industry in 2010. Having joined a local band in Bandung, he introduced himself as a soloist through the album My Story.

"In 2010 I entered the music industry as a solo singer and entered the major label. At that time, I introduced myself as a soloist, and I released an album with 10 songs for which I was all creative," said Nadya Fatira when met in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta some time ago.

Despite acting as a composer for his songs, Nadya Fatira admitted that she did not really understand the rights she had.

At that time, what Nadya Fatira knew as a musician, money coffers could be obtained from appearances at an event or cooperation with a brand.

"In the past, I thought musicians could earn a gig or make themselves as active as possible, so they could be looked at by brands," said Nadya Fatira.

"I don't know yet, it turns out that there are other coffers, especially singers as songwriters too. We can get song royalties," he continued.

Nadya admitted that the songs had been presented in several soap operas and FTV programs, but at that time he did not know whether there were any coffers of money generated from there.

After consulting with several fellow songwriters, then Nadya found out that her songs that were played on television could make money, by registering as songwriters to the publisher.

After registering with the publisher, Nadya felt that royalties for her songs were easier to detect. Starting from licensing to collecting and distributing royalties went better with the existing system.

Every three months, I get reports of my songs being used anywhere, how many streaming is there, played in what application, downloaded where, used in what film. Or if there is a production house that wants to use my songs in their films, they just need to contact music publishing," said Nadya.

"Since then, I have benefited, have felt the benefits directly, the rights are managed, the royalties are collected and there is no need to be complicated because they already have a system," he added.

Even though it has been in the national music industry since 2010, it will take at least five years for Nadya Fatira to understand the importance of the publisher.

"And finally I literate in 2015. Oh, the function of publishing music is different from aggregators, different labels, and different from LMK," he said.
