Doro Rejects Plans To Retire From Music: No Other Life

JAKARTA - In a new interview withctions from Belgium, German metal singer Doro Pesch, who formed the band Warlock four decades ago, was asked about his chances of retiring. The 59-year-old musician immediately dismissed him.

"I thought 24 hours of new songs, about recordings, about tours, about festivals. No other life. I grew up on horses, and I miss having pets in my life...," Doro started.

"But for me, I made a decision when I was 24. I lived for 20, 25 years in Manhattan. One day I wake up and think, 'Okay, today I want to choose my priorities,' and then it becomes very clear. I want to live for music and not for others. And then everything is fine," he continued.

"I'm very happy to make that decision, because before I thought, 'Yes, I want to have this and I want to have pets, horses and dogs, and maybe I want to have children and maybe I want to have a husband'. But you can't. You have to make decisions, in my case, and that's the reason why I never got married. I have no children, but I have all the fans, and I feel we are a big family."

"And I've always been happy in every country, in every city. And that's definitely a dream. Like music for a long time. Oh, I didn't expect us to do more than five, six, seven years."

In 2009, Doro told Sleaze Roxx he didn't "trusted in retirement. I thought I would be on stage until the end," he said.

"I thought I would die on stage; that's what I love to do. As long as people come to the concert, I will continue to perform. It doesn't matter whether it's five people or five thousand people."

Meanwhile, Doro's new studio album, Conqueress - Forever Strong And Proud, will be released on October 27 via Nuclear Blast.
