JAKARTA - Dustie Waring guitarist returned to Between The Buried And Me following allegations of rape against him.
Waring joined Between The Buried And Me for their performance at the Furnace Fest on Sunday, September 24, his first show with the band after missing their summer tour.
In June, an anonymous fan accused the band's sub-reddit that Waring raped her in a bar toilet in 2018, and as a result she was pregnant.
At the time, Waring said in a statement that he was "very shocked".
"I will handle this matter personally with my bandmates and discuss any future actions with my lawyers to protect myself and my family," he said.
Waring shared footage of his performance with the progressive American metal band on his Instagram story, which immediately sparked a backlash and culminated in the resignation of the entire Discord Between The Buried And Me channel moderation team.
Meanwhile, Waring's lawyer, Chad Diamond, denied saying his client was innocent.
"Obviously. Waring has always confirmed that he is innocent of false accusations against him," he said in a statement to MetalSucks.
"He faces these accusations honestly, and the facts have proven it. He has forgotten this unfortunate situation and is very happy to finally be back in music."
On behalf of Waring, Diamond initially called the allegations "baseless and slanderous" in a statement in June.
He also added that Waring "hopes to return to making music after the summer."
