JAKARTA - Roger Waters re-recorded the album The Dark Side Of The Moon from Pink Floyd and will release this version as a solo album.

The re-concept album, The Dark Side of the Moon Redux, coincided with the 50th anniversary of the original album, but was not carried out by other members of the iconic band.

Money's lead single has been reinterpreted by Waters, changing the song that was previously thrilling into an acoustic track.

The album was produced by the former Pink Floyd bassist with Gus Seyffert. The studio band consisting of Seyffert, Joey Waronker, Jonathan Wilson, Johnny Shepherd and Jon Carin was asked by Waters as a band to accompany him in the studio.

Other Pink Floyd members, such as guitarist David Gilmour and drummer Nick Manson, did not participate in re-recording this album.

"The original Dark Side of the Moon in some ways feels like I'm letting go of a person with human condition," Waters said in a press release.

"But Dave, Rick, Nick, and I were very young when we made it, and when you look at the world around us, obviously the message is not attached," he continued.

"That's why I started considering what the 80-year-old's wisdom could bring to a reorganized version."

When I first mentioned the idea of re-recording The Dark Side of the Moon to Gus and Sean, we all thought I was crazy, but the more we considered it, the more we thought, "Isn't that the point?", he added.

I am very proud of what we have created, a work that can stand proud alongside the original, holding hands for half a century.

The Dark Side of the Moon Redux will be released on October 6 via SGB Music.
