JAKARTA - In an interview with Heavy Australia, Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt was asked if waiting for a new album still made him as excited as before. This is what he said.

"If an album is released, or a single is released, then it's for a reason, and that's usually a good reason for me," said Nuno.

"So, that actually means we're writing something worth sharing for me... There's a reason why we don't release a lot of albums, because joy has to be there.

"I told Gary [Cherone,Extreme vocalist] at a very, very young age that I never wanted to put out any music to put out the music that I wanted. Maybe not the most financially intelligent thing for a band to do that, because every time you put out an album, you make money, you earn a down payment, you travel the world.

"But it has to be something you're really proud of. And what I mean by that is to be successful even before it's launched - means you're very proud of it. You're excited and lower your head on the pillow. Regardless of [whether] everyone hates it or likes it, it means nothing to you.

"It's always a bonus that they like it. But in the end, nothing worse than people who love what you do if you don't like what you did from the start."

Extreme's new album, Six, was released on June 9 through earMUSIC. On Six, Extreme touched the realm of hard rock that burned very introspective frits and ballads.

For the album containing these 12 songs, Nuno, Gary, Pat Badminton (bass), and Kevin Figueiredo (drums) worked hard in the studio of the guitarist's home in Los Angeles to channel shocking electitism that determines the final result with a touch of the 21st century.
