JAKARTA - In an interview with Metallica fan magazine, So What!, Robert Trujillo revealed that he contributed vocals to the song You Must Burn! in the latest studio album of heavy metal giant 72 Seasons.
"When I joined Metallica, I never sang in my life, so the fact that I can now support backing vocals is pretty cool," said Robert.
"For the first time in my life, I was able to sing on Metallica's album and support James [Hetfield, Metallica frontman]. I am very proud of that... This is the first time James and [co-producer] Greg [Fidelman] may have really trusted me with that position on this album," he added.
"I was surprised when I got a call from Greg because I came to play bass, but then he said, 'I would ask you to sing for a few things too.' And I was, like, 'Really?' I was a little nervous. At the same time, I was very motivated. Luckily for me, that part really fits my comfort zone.
"Regarding how You Must Burn came together musically," said Robert.
"One of the things that makes me excited to join Metallica is the idea that I will learn how this band creates and develops songs, takes seeds and [sees] how it grows into a beautiful composition or a strong and heavy song," explained former bassist Ozzy Osbourne.
"Witting the rhythmic approach to vocals, conceptual vocals, and melodic elements with rhythmic elements. Lars [Ulrich, drums] embeds the ethnicity materials he does in many of these songs. Kirk's taste [Hammett, guitar], he has a soul. So for me, it's a very, very extraordinary learning experience, and I can not only be part of creative but also support."
