JAKARTA - The progressive sci-fi metal innovator, Voivod, is working on a '40th anniversary' themed album titled Morgöth Tales.

Vocalist Denis "Snake" Belanger told Agorapphobic News the album featured a re-recorded version of the songs from their first few albums.

"It's great fun doing it. It's like a time capsule, going back to the past [to] revisit these old songs, especially the first song we've recorded [Condemned To Thewidth], it's for Metal Massacre V [1984] on Metal Blade Records first, before our first album," he said.

Snake said that the album will contain songs that are not from each of their albums, but most periods from Rrr\"o\"oaaarrr, Killing Technology, Dimension Hatr\"os, and Nothingface.

"We revisited one song from each [album]. And it's in chronological [sequence]. So it's really fun. It's fun to do."

According to the vocalist, the studio album scheduled to arrive around July will contain about 10 or 12 songs, including thrashing Rage and Killing Technology.

Voivod is from Jonqui'ire, Quebec, Canada. Their musical style has changed several times since the band was born in the early 1980s.Started as a metal speed band, Voevod has added a progressive metal and thrash metal mixture to create their own unique metal style.

They are often credited as one of Canada's 'Big 4' thrash metal bands with Sacrificie, Annihilator, and airway. They are also considered by many as one of the most influential metal bands from the 80s, influencing and gaining praise from various bands and various genres.
