Gorillaz Releases Song Machine Series With New Song Momentary Bliss

JAKARTA - The virtual band from the United States, Gorillaz gave a surprise by launching a new music series titled Song Machine. Not only a series, a new song will be inserted in each episode, such as Momentary Bliss which was released on Friday, January 31st.

The track Momentary Bliss is filled with Gorillaz with musicians Slowthai and Slaves. Still with pop punk and synth-pop tracks with a mix of Slowthai and Slaves vocals, this track is a very maximal composition. Not to mention, the guitar sound is so dominant in this track.

Song Machine's first episode featured the recording process with the two collaborators. Equipped with animation and the appearance of virtual members make this work sound personal. Damon Albarn, who is also the frontman of the band Blur, can be seen in this 5-minute video.

In addition to Momentary Bliss, the Song Machine music series will include studio footage sessions, interview sessions with collaborators, and conversations with virtual members on each episode. Gorillaz has not confirmed how many episodes will be released on this Song Machine.

“Song Machine is a new way of doing what we do. Gorillaz broke the 'mold' because the mold was old. The world moves faster than supercharged particles, so we have to stay ready to fall, "said Russell Hobbs, Gorillaz drummer quoted from Pitchfork.

“We don't even know who will enter the next studio. So whatever comes, we are prepared to produce like there is no tomorrow, ”said Hobbs again.

Previously, Gorillaz released a documentary film entitled Reject False Icons which aired only one night on December 16, 2019. The film contains the making of the Humanz album to The Now Now, their last album. The film was directed by Denholm Hewlett, son of James Hewlett.

This Guinness Book of Record version of the best band made Momentary Bliss their first song since releasing the album The Now Now in 2018. There are still other surprises from Gorillaz with their latest music project.
