JAKARTA - Vocalist for rock band Paramore Hayley Williams released his first solo single under the name Petals For Armor. The single is titled Simmer.

Williams previously shared a series of leaks regarding his new project via social media, which featured anonymous black boxes. His latest post on Petal For Armor's official Instagram is accompanied by a caption that reads: How to draw the line between 'wrath and compassion'.

Simmer was released January 22 with a music video directed by Warren Fu (The Strokes, Haim). In it, Williams is seen running towards the forest shrouded in orange light. He then headed for the dark empty house where he smeared himself with paste.

When a hooded black robed figure appeared, he knocked him down. Big surprise ensued. What is that? Watch the video below:

Credit to this video reveals the song was co-written by Williams, Paramore guitarist Taylor York, and the band's touring bassist Joey Howard. York also produced the song.

In December, Williams announced that he will be releasing new music in 2020, saying: "With the help of some of my closest friends, I made what I call mine"

"This is a very special project and you will feel it in January," he added.

Over the past few weeks, posters for Petals For Armor have been seen in various cities in the United States, including New York.

Paramore's final album, After Laughter, was released in 2017 and marked the return of original member Zac Farro to drums. Bassist Jeremy Davis did not appear on record after leaving the band in 2015.
