JAKARTA - Reflectors on motorbikes are important components that function to reflect light from other vehicle lights, making motorcycles more visible, especially in minimal light conditions. These reflectors are often referred to as "cat eyes".

Due to problems with this reflector, Royal Enfield has announced a global recall for a number of motorcycles produced between November 2022 and March 2023.

While this recall is broad and involves relatively small and harmless components, the Indian manufacturer has confirmed that the recall is related to reflectors required by law in most countries.

Launching Visordown, September 30, Royal Enfield has found that a small fraction of its motorcycle reflectors do not meet the performance standards required by the Indian brand. As a proactive move, they decided to recall all motorcycles produced within the mentioned time span.

The nature of this recall allows motorists to continue using their motorbikes until repair work is carried out. Royal Enfield will contact affected motorcycle owners to arrange component replacement. This process is estimated to take only about 15 minutes and will not be charged additional fees to customers.

It was reported that the recall would be carried out in stages. Motorcycle owners in South Korea, the United States, and Canada will be contacted first, followed by India, Brazil, Latin America, Europe, and the UK.

In England, the new motorcycle is equipped with three reflectors installed from the factory or by dealers at the delivery inspection stage (PDI). Two amber reflectors are mounted on the front fork, one on each side of the motorcycle, and one is mounted on the back midline, usually under the back number plate.
