How To Take Care Of Helmet Properly: Don't Ignore These Important Steps!

JAKARTA Helmets are mandatory equipment for motorcyclists, but unfortunately, many ignore their care. In fact, maintaining a helmet properly is very important to keep its function optimal and ensure maximum protection while driving.

Then, how to take care of a good and correct helmet? RSV Helmet Executive Director, Richard Ryan, shared some practical tips that can be done.

" Helmet maintenance must be carried out regularly to prevent the smell from germs," he said when met in Jakarta, recently.

Routine care in question is not just washing helmets. There are several other steps that need to be considered, such as avoiding direct sunlight, removing the visor on the full-face helmet so that the air can enter, as well as opening the padding or foam to prevent moisture that can trigger mold growth.

"For full-face helmets, you can release the visor so that there is good air circulation, so that the helmet is not moisturized and avoids mold. Even expensive helmets will not fade if they are not exposed to sunlight too often," he added.

Richard also suggested washing helmets according to usage frequency. For those who wear helmets every day, ideally helmets are washed once a week.

"However, when washing helmets, it is better to use the dry clean method with foam, not a semi-wet method like in shopping centers. Even though it is not damaging, this method can reduce the density of helmets," he explained.
