Suzuki Ready To Launch Electric Motorcycle In 2024: Focus On Small Capacity

JAKARTA - Suzuki confirmed its involvement in the era of environmentally friendly vehicles by confirming its plans to launch electric motors by 2024. This decision is in line with Suzuki's growth strategy which focuses on alternative fuels and sustainability.

General Manager of Suzuki for motorcycle sales, Akira Kyuji, stated that further investment will be diverted to alternative fuels, along with plans to launch eight models by fiscal year 2030, with an EV battery ratio target of 25 percent.

"Unless there is a profound change in the future, this development is in accordance with our plan," he said, as reported by Motorcyclenews, Wednesday, December 13.

Furthermore, Kyuji revealed that the Suzuki electric motor which will be launched in 2024 will primarily have a small capacity, such as 125 cc or equivalent.

Since early January this year, Suzuki has announced its commitment to a more environmentally friendly future by releasing various models. Suzuki Motor Corp also in early January, according to a Reuters report on January 26, announced an investment of 4.5 trillion yen or IDR 482.7 trillion to fiscal year 2030 for research, development, and capital expenditure to make various types of battery electric vehicles (EVs) including electric motorcycles.

At the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, Suzuki also exhibited electric motors with batteries that could be exchanged as part of a demonstration experiment. This move further strengthens Suzuki's commitment to providing sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions in the motorcycle industry.
