VinFast VF 2 Launched, Small Electric Car Air EV Rival for IDR 129 Million

JAKARTA - VinFast officially introduced the VF 2, a compact electric car that is positioned as a competitor in the city EV segment, including the Wuling Air EV. In the Vietnamese market, this model is marketed at prices starting at 188 million Dong or equivalent to around Rp129 million.

Interestingly, the price tag already includes the battery so that consumers do not have to pay additional costs through the battery rental scheme. VinFast claims that the VF 2 ownership cost can compete with premium motorcycles, but still provides comfort and protection like a car.

Based on information from VinFast reported on Thursday, July 9, the VF 2 is built using the Minio Green platform which has been improved to better suit the needs of private users. This vehicle is designed as a daily mobility solution in urban areas with compact dimensions so that it is easy to control on crowded roads.

This car has a length of 3,090 mm, a width of 1,496 mm, a height of 1,663.2 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,065 mm. These dimensions make it agile when maneuvering or when looking for parking space. Although it is only equipped with two doors, the cabin is still able to accommodate up to four passengers.

In terms of appearance, the VinFast VF 2 carries a modern design with LED headlights and 13-inch alloy wheels. The manufacturer also provides various exterior personalization options so that owners can customize the appearance of the vehicle according to taste.

Entering the cabin, this car is equipped with a 7-inch digital instrument panel that presents various driving information. Other features include an air conditioning system, a driver's seat with four-way manual adjustment, and a simple audio system consisting of two speakers and an FM radio.

For performance, the VF 2 uses a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) electric motor that is capable of producing around 40 dk of power and a peak torque of 65 Nm. The maximum speed reaches 80 km/h, while the driver can choose two driving modes, namely Eco for energy efficiency and Normal for better acceleration response.

Its energy source comes from a 18.3 kWh battery. In a fully charged state, VinFast claims the VF 2 can travel up to 210 kilometers based on the NEDC test standard, so it is considered sufficient to support daily activities in urban environments.
