JAKARTA - Another automotive manufacturer is refreshing its model to meet the high demand from Chinese consumers. BMW released images of the BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase produced in China, and will debut at the 2026 Beijing Motor Show next month.

Citing the Carnewschina website, Monday, March 30, the SUV is specifically designed for the Chinese market, scheduled to be launched in the first half of 2026.

The new iX3 Long Wheelbase model largely retains the exterior design of its overseas version, with subtle refinements. Key visual elements include the distinctive 'Digital Angel Wing' daytime running light and the eye-catching '3D Grille'.

One of the improvements for the Chinese market is the extended wheelbase, which now reaches 3005 mm. For comparison, the overseas model has a length of 4780 mm, a width of 1895 mm, a height of 1635 mm, and a wheelbase of 2895 mm.

At the back, the vehicle retains the horizontal L-shaped taillights. Interestingly, the emblem now displays 'Brilliance BMW' and 'iX350L' which indicates local production and its specific variant.

The new center rear camera has been integrated into a segmented roof spoiler, hinting at advanced driver assistance capabilities. Indeed, the new iX3 Long Wheelbase will feature Momenta's full driver navigation function, which is designed for local travel scenarios on highways and in urban areas.

In the interior, the latest iX3 Long Wheelbase adopts BMW's latest design philosophy, by combining a panoramic sunroof equipped with integrated sun blinds. BMW has partnered with Alibaba to develop custom large language model (LLM) technology. This system will integrate the AI DeepSeek large model capability and AI agents into the cockpit, along with support for the HarmonyOS ecosystem and Huawei HiCar digital services.

Under the hood, the latest iX3 Long Wheelbase is powered by BMW's sixth-generation eDrive electric drive technology, which is built on an 800V architecture. The car has a 108 kWh battery, which is combined with a front asynchronous motor and a rear synchronous motor. This power configuration produces a maximum power of 345kW (463 hp) and a peak torque of 645 Nm, allowing this SUV to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.

In terms of range, the vehicle offers a pure electric CLTC cruising range of over 900 km, with an official energy consumption rate of 15.1 kWh/100 km. The fast charging capability allows charging up to 427 km in just 10 minutes.
