Audi A4 E-tron Becomes BMW And Mercedes' New Opponent In The Electric Sedan Segment

JAKARTA Audi is preparing to bring back the legendary name A4 in a new, fully electric form. The sedan, which will be named A4 e-tron, is rumored to be launching in 2028 and positioned as the main competitor to the BMW 3 Series EV and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Audi Chief Executive, Gernot D\"ollner, revealed that the A4 e-tron will be built using the Scalable Systems Platform (SSP) platform. The platform will also be used by a number of other models in the Volkswagen group, allowing for increased efficiency and performance capabilities of Audi's electric cars to the next level.

In design, this electric sedan is said to carry a look inspired by Concept C and Audi A5, with cleaner body lines and aerodynamics. The front phase is made more minimalist, featuring vertical stylized titles and sleek headlights with four lighting elements which are the hallmarks of the new Audi electric car.

On the interior side, Audi is starting to completely leave the digital button concept and re-adopt physical buttons for some important functions, following consumer requests who want a more intuitive driving experience.

Not only that, but the A4 e-tron will also be Audi's first model to use collaboration software with Rivian, allowing periodic system updates and vehicle functionality improvements. This was reported by Carscoops, Monday, October 13.

Although there is no official information regarding battery specifications, electric motor power, or selling price, the A4 e-tron is expected to come with high performance and competitive electric range in its class. With the support of new technology and the latest platform, Audi emphasized its readiness to challenge the dominance of other German electric sedans.
