JAKARTA - In strengthening its electrification strategy, Nissan introduced the concept of the latest generation Leaf to be launched by the end of this year.

Not only present in the latest generation, the third generation Leaf marks a new era by transforming from a hatchback to a rising crossover in the global market.

Launching from the manufacturer's official website, Thursday, March 27, the all-new Leaf was built on the CMF-EV architecture developed by the Renault-Wisan-Mitsubishi alliance or a similar platform used on future generations of Ariya and Juke.

The latest Leaf has a fresh rim with a 19-inch rim and a robotic panoramic. In some areas, this car will use different configurations according to market needs.

For example, in North America, this one car will be equipped with an integrated NACS charging port for the first time on a Nissan electric vehicle. The port allows it to charge on the Tesla Supercharger network.

The latest generation Nissan Leaf also has the latest 3-in-1 EV powertrain which is claimed to have more efficient energy management, slimmer packaging, and increased driving performance compared to the previous generation.

Although further specifications will be revealed in the middle of this year, the car is claimed to have an impressive distance of up to 372 miles or the equivalent of 598 km in single charging, according to an order from Autocar.

In addition to having impressive reach, the manufacturer from Japan confirmed that the latest Leaf will use Google-based infotainment systems and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) at the forefront.

This latest crossover will be produced at Nissan's factory, in Sunderland, England and will co-exist with next-generation Juke.
