JAKARTA - Bad news comes from Build Your Dream (BYD). The subbrand of the brand, Fang Cheng Bao, must withdraw or recall the 5 Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) SUV model in China.

Quoting from the CNevpost page, Monday, January 27, 2025, it was revealed that there were a total of 6,843 units of these vehicles that had to be recalled or produced between October 16, 2023 and February 1, 2024.

As stated by the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), the recall was due to a manufacturing error.

The smell on the internal electrical connector of the double motor controller is not integrated in some vehicles, which allows it not to be properly locked.

"This can cause bolts to slowly come out and convex. In fact, extreme cases can cause smoke and fire so that it can pose a safety hazard," the local regulator said in a statement.

Responding to the issue, BYD gave full authority to subbrand Fang Cheng Bao to replace the problematic double motor controller and can be handled properly.

Fang Cheng Bao will replace the entire car that was affected by this recall and made free of charge to keep users safe using this off-road SUV while driving.

As is known, BYD officially launched the Fang Cheng Bao brand on August 16, 2023 and the first model was the offroad Bao 5 SUV in the same year, with deliveries starting the same year as well.
