Michael Schumacher's Last F1 Ferrari Car Enters RM Sotheby's Auction

JAKARTA - A well-known auction house from Canada, RM Sotheby will again hold an auction of historical goods or vehicles. Now, the goods that are included in the list are not ordinary vehicles.

One unit of Ferrari 248 F1 that was once piloted by living legend Michael Schumacher will be auctioned off. The interesting thing is that this land jet was driven by 'Schumi' in its final season with Ferrari in 2006, before retiring from racing.

Launching from the RM Sotheby page, Tuesday, October 22, the car, designed by reliable designer Aldo Costa, still maintains a number of elements from the previous F2005. The elements that are maintained include external dimensions to wheelbase.

However, 248 F1s have enhanced elements such as aerodynamics in side pods, deflectors, engine caps, diffusers, and floor sections, making them have more excellent performance than F2005.

Furthermore, 248 F1 is the first V8-engined Ferrari car to compete in the modern-era Formula 1. Armed with a naturally-assisted Type-056 V8 engine, this ground jet can blow up power reaching 785 dk combined with a fixed gearbox longitudinal transmission.

This car made its debut on track on April 4, 2006 at the Autodromo Vallelunga circuit, Italy driven by the Ferrari test driver at that time, Luca Badoer. Then, 248 F1 conducted a pre-season test with Michael Schumacher and Felipe Mass behind the wheel.

During the pre-season test, 248 F1 managed to cover a total distance of about 3,900 km. The car, which is auctioned with a chassis code of 254, made its debut in the fourth round of the 2006 championship at Imola, to be precise, the San Marino Grand Prix.

In the race, Schumi won pole position in qualifying and translated it into victory.

During the running season, Michael Schumacher has won seven Grand Prix, 11 podiums, three poles, and four fastest laps in this car.

Unfortunately, Schumi hopes to win his 8th world title after he suffered engine failure in Japan and had to settle for finishing in 4th in Brazil's final race and being in second place in the final standings 13 points adrift of Fernando Alonso.

RM Sotheby has not disclosed the estimated price for 248 F1. Given that this car has a great history for German legends, the price will certainly be offered exorbitantly. The offer will open on November 14.
