One Of BMW X5's Highest Variants Recently Caught On Camera On European Roads, Using The PHEV System?

JAKARTA - The current generation of BMW X5 has entered the age of five and has undergone several changes. Knowing this, the manufacturer plans to design its newest generation based on the Neue Classe concept.

In June, the prototype of the latest generation of X5 was caught on camera with a design that resembles its concept version. Recently, BMW was reportedly testing one of the highest versions of the SUV called the X5 M60e.

Reporting from the BMW Blog, Friday, September 13, the car was seen crossing a highway lighted by the sun in European territory covered with camouflage stickers. However, the interesting thing about this variant is that the SUV is equipped with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system.

The system is said to be filling the position between the standard version of X5 and X5 M, promising high performance but not forgetting the improvement in terms of fuel efficiency.

The latest X5 M60e xDrive model will reportedly have a better performance with a fresh 6-cylinder gasoline engine combined with PHEV technology which has more than 550 dk of power while proving that electrification does not sacrifice performance.

In addition to offering PHEV, BMW is also working on preparing iX5 or the electricity version of X5 on the same basis. Not only that, but the manufacturer will also present an M70 version which is the highest variant of the electric SUV.

Later, the iX5 M70 will have a longer distance capacity, faster charging, and higher energy density. The SUV is also given an electric motor which is estimated to have 600 dk of power.

Back to X5, it is estimated that this SUV will offer V8 engines in the M60 variant in the United States (US) market. This type was not presented in the European market due to stricter emission regulations.

BMW X5 and the latest iX5 are expected to start production at the end of 2026. This model is certainly highly anticipated by many because it has a more radical design and impressive performance.
