MG Will Launch New ZS With Hybrid System For The First Time

JAKARTA - The famous auto brand from England, Morris Garage (MG) will launch the latest ZS with hybrid technology for the first time, following the successful launch of MG3 some time ago.

Reporting from Autocar, Thursday, August 22, the SUV will be introduced to the public on August 28. This car will use similar technology as in the MG3 hatchback.

Thus, the car will have a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine measuring 100 dk combined with a 105 dk electric motor, resulting in combined power of up to 190 dk and 424 Nm torque.

As an illustration, MG3 Hybrid has a fuel consumption of 27.2 km/l compared to its predecessor of 8.5 km/l by relying on pure gasoline engines.

In addition to new technology, MG ZS will also get a change in style. This car has the potential to follow the latest HS style with the front relying on grip and more aggressive lighting adoption following the design language MG7.

This style was also introduced in several models, such as MG3 hatchback and MG5 facelift. It is likely that manufacturers will use this design language in other models in the future.

MG will also introduce a pure gasoline version on the ZS model. However, the turbodiesel powertrain variant will likely not be introduced given the lack of buyer interest in that type.

Although the latest ZS will be present, it is confirmed that the current generation of ZS EVs will last until 2026, considering that the model was only launched in 2021.

The ZS model is currently an affordable SUV in the UK and is offered at 18,320 pounds, equivalent to Rp371.6 million. It is likely that the hybrid version will have a higher price than the pure gasoline.

In Indonesia, the MG ZS pure gasoline variant is offered with three variants at prices ranging from Rp315.8 million to Rp355.8 million. Meanwhile, ZS EV is priced at Rp413 million.
