JAKARTA - A German automotive manufacturer, BMW plans to expand its M Motorsport division by hinting at the presence of an M2-based entry-level racing car.
The news was revealed on his official website when the manufacturer uploaded a complete photo of the M2 racing car with camouflage stickers in some parts. It was stated that the model will debut in 2026.
Although the manufacturer did not mention the details of the car, it is certain that this is the successor to M235i Racing, M240i Racing, and M2 CS Racing, which have previously been included in a number of racing events around the world.
BMW M Motorsport Head of Customer Racing Bjorn Lellmann, said that his party had worked intensively in developing the model and was expected to have optimal performance for the customer team.
"Our technology has been working intensively in the early stages of this development to optimally prepare cars for customer use," Lellmann was quoted as saying on the official BMW Group website, Wednesday, August 21.
With the presence of this model, this further strengthens the BMW M Motorsport portfolio in presenting a variety of racing cars following the successful launch of M4 GT3 Evo and M4 GT4 Evo.
It is likely that the car will use the base of the facelift BMW M2 which was introduced globally some time ago, but its specifications and performance will be improved for the needs of racing tracks.
In June, the brand brought an updated version of the M2 with minor changes. One of the changes is that it looks more sporting with more powerful machines.
