JAKARTA - The European market has returned to the arrival of an automotive brand from China. Now, Dongfeng is taking steps to enter the blue continent by bringing in an affordable EV model for Nammi Box.

Launching from Autocar, Tuesday, August 20, the manufacturer based in Wuhan marked its milestone in Europe by launching the Nammi Box in Switzerland priced at 21,990 Swiss Franc or equivalent to Rp395.3 million.

This one car is expected to be a competitor to other cheap EVs, such as Citroen e-C3 at competitive prices. In addition, Leapmotor also confirmed that he would present T03 electric cars as his affordable vehicle line.

Another interesting thing, Dongfeng confirmed that it will be one of the Chinese manufacturers who will also build a factory in Europe, precisely in Italy.

The automotive manufacturer is now in further talks with Italian authorities regarding the establishment of the factory. This is an effort made by Dongfeng in avoiding the expensive new European Union's import rates against EVs from China.

Dongfeng Nammi Box has a compact size and is built on the S3 platform developed by this brand. This car has a cute form with striking front lights.

On the inside, this hatchback is covered in white with diamond patterned stitches. The car also carries advanced technology from the 12-inch infotainment touch screen and a 5-inch digital instrument panel attached to the dashboard.

Nammi Box has unique features such as a front seat that can be donated to a flat position. Thus, this system functions as a temporary bed for users who want to rest for a while.

Powered by a single 93-dk electric motor, Dongfeng offers a battery for Nammi Box consisting of 42.3 kWh which gives a distance of 193 miles or 310 km according to WLTP calculations.

In the Chinese market, manufacturers offer a smaller battery capacity of 31.5 kWh. However, it is still not certain whether it will be provided for the outside market or not.
