BYD Prepares Three-line Version Of Yangwang U8, Debut By The End Of August

JAKARTA - BYD has launched Yangwang U8 as a full-size SUV that will compete in the luxury vehicle market last year. Present with a two-line configuration, now the manufacturer from China plans to launch its three-line version.

Reporting from CarNewsChina, Tuesday, August 13, the three-line Yangwang U8 was seen being transported by a crane truck covered with camouflage stickers in China.

At a glance, this car did not experience any significant changes. The only difference is the longer dimension on the back overhang and wheelbase parts wider than the previous version.

In addition, the front still looks the same as a big grip, advanced DRL lights, and LiDAR sensors located on the roof. The SUV has a fairly large rearview mirror, a door handle that can be opened, and a plaid shape with a flat roof line.

Then, the offroad back rim was widened which hinted that the wheelbase of this car was extended. The two-line version has a wheelbase of 3,050 mm, possibly a three-line version could reach about 3,200 mm.

The configuration of the three-line Yangwang U8 seat layout is still unknown. However, it is estimated that BYD will adopt a 2+2+2 configuration with two captain seats in the second row.

Meanwhile, the other interior did not change with a 12.8-inch main screen, 23.6-inch LCD cluster instrument, and a 23.6-inch front passenger screen, and a pair of 12.8-inch monitors on the back seat.

It is estimated that BYD Yangwang U8's three-line version retains the same specifications as its two lines with four electric motors producing a combined power of 880 kW and a peak torque of 1,280 Nm which makes it able to run from 0 to 100 km/hour in 3.6 seconds.

Because it carries the Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) system, this SUV has a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine as an additional power with a power of up to 200 kW.

Equipped with a 49 kWh LFP battery combined with a 75 liter fuel capacity, BYD Yangwang U8 is capable of traveling up to 1,000 km according to CLTC.

BYD Yangwang U8 version three rows is likely to debut in the Chengdu Motor Show which will take place from August 30.
