Stellantis Will Offer Mild-Hybrid's 500e Fiat, Launching In 2026

JAKARTA - Stellantis plans to bring in a minor hybrid version of Fiat 500e and is expected to encourage production at the Mirafiori factory, Italy.

Launching from Automotive News Europe, Tuesday, May 28, one of the suppliers said that they received a 'Requests For Quotation' (RFQ) from Stellantis Italia to increase production by 500 with two powertrains of up to 200,000 units per year.

The new target of 200,000 units includes the addition of 125,000 gasoline engine models, said the supplier who was not willing to be named.

Earlier in March, Stellantis had asked suppliers to increase production of 500e at the plant to 175.000 units per year or exceeding 2023's achievement of 77.260 units.

During the first four months of this year, the Fiat brand has sold 12,288 units of 500e in the European Union and the UK as well as a number of EFTA countries (including Iceland, Norway, and others). Of course this is a decline compared to last year in the same period as 17,363 units.

The sales trend was also followed by a decline in sales of the combustion engine (ICE) 500 model from 40,750 units last year to 32,504 units in 2024 in the same period.

Stellantis himself has met with representatives of Italian unions in Turin and it is likely that they will add a mild-hybrid version to the 500 model. The company's spokesman said the company was considering the project but had yet to make a final decision.

In addition, the main reason Fiat is ready to take this step is because 500 previously gasoline-powered ones can no longer be sold in Europe. The minicar is not homologated to comply with the new cyber safety and security regulations mandated by the European Union for registration of new vehicles that will take effect from July 7.

Information about this model is still very limited. However, it is estimated that Fiat will provide this model with a 1.0 liter FireFly gasoline engine measuring 70 dk combined with a 48V mid-hybrid system and can be produced starting at the end of 2025 or early 2026.

Fiat 500 millid-hybrid will fill the gap in this line of series. The pure ICE version starts from 17,700 euros (around Rp309.7 million) and EVs worth 29,950 euros (equivalent to Rp524 million).
