Tesla Recalls 1.6 Million Vehicles In China Due To Software Problems, This Is The Affected Model

JAKARTA - Bad news came from Tesla in early 2024. They had to pull back more than 1.6 million vehicles in China due to software problems.

Quoting from the CNevpost page, Sunday, January 7, 2024, Tesla's total official recall of 1,610,105 vehicles with production dates between August 26, 2014, and December 20, 2023, involving local production Model 3 and Y, as well as imported Model S, X, and 3.

Based on data from the State Administration for Market Regulation in China, this problem occurs when activating the auto-assistance steering function. Drivers can abuse this function and can increase the risk of accidents.

In addition, Tesla also recalled a total of 7,538 Model S and Model X vehicles imported with a production date between October 26, 2022, to November 16, 2023. The car door can be opened during a collision so that it can cause safety hazards.

Tesla will equip recalled vehicles with new features developed, including additional additional automatic help steering control and related commands through increased over-the-air (OTA).

These new features will further encourage drivers to carry out their driving duties properly when using these features and reduce the risk of accidents.

The recall will be carried out in stages so that users can complete the software update without visiting the dealers.

For vehicles that cannot be recalled via OTA, Tesla will contact users to upgrade the vehicle's software for free.
