Toyota Launches Hybrid Hilux 48V, Completes Electrification Vehicles In Europe

Toyota has introduced the latest version of Hilux equipped with Hybrid 48V technology, making it part of a manufacturer's effort to expand the electrification reach. In addition to having reliable performance in all terrains, both off-road and on-road, this double-cabin pickup also offers optimal fuel efficiency.

The Toyota Hilux Hybrid is equipped with a 2.8 liter diesel engine coupled to a 48V lithium-ion battery that has been developed. Thus, this pickup can generate up to 150 kW of power and 500 Nm of torque.

The manufacturer claims that the Hilux not only provides responsive acceleration and efficiency in fuel, but rather improves braking performance, and smoother driving than ever before.

According to official information from the company, Monday, December 4, this new Hilux still maintains a dashing goal and front bumper design like the previous model. With a length of 5,325 mm, a width of 1,900 mm, a height of 1,815 mm, and a long tub of up to 1,525 mm, this vehicle offers a line between practicality and large carrying capacity.

With the construction of a formidable ladder-frame chassis, Hilux shows extraordinary durability and stiffness, able to overcome various conditions in various areas. Strong and durable leaf gasters, along with a double-shock damping rear suspension system, combine the expected off-road capabilities of a formidable 4x4 vehicle with driving convenience.

Moving to the interior, the Japanese manufacturer embeds an 8-inch touch screen equipped with a Toyota Smart Connect system. The system provides a variety of features that make it easier for drivers, including Cloud-based navigation, voice assistants to operate mobile phone calls, multimedia, air conditioning, electric windows, and ambient lighting, all of which can be hands-free.

Drivers also have the ability to lock or open a vehicle and control air conditioning through a smartphone application, depending on the variant chosen. This multimedia system also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity wirelessly.

This hybrid version of the Hilux is also equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) safety feature, which is designed to provide the best protection to drivers and other road users from various potential hazards.

The TSS includes a series of technologies, including an upgraded Pre-Collition System (PCS), which is able to detect pedestrians better at night, cyclists during the day, and vehicles or pedestrians at the intersection as they turn.

Meanwhile, the updated Lane Departure Alert (LDA) is able to detect road side borders, while Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Road Sign Assist (RSA) allows drivers to adjust speeds based on current speed limits and automatically slow down vehicles. In addition, Adaptive High Beam (AHB) helps detect vehicles that approach, accurately adjust LED lighting, and dim other road users, allowing drivers to use remote lights without disrupting visibility.

The car with the mid-hybrid technology will arrive at the dealers' network in all regions of Europe starting in mid-2024.
