Mercedes-Benz Showcases G-Class Electricity Resilience On Off-road Line

Since the announcement four years ago regarding the plan to develop an electric G-Class, it seems that Mercedes-Benz is currently really ready to revolutionize this G-Class automotive icon.

Quoted from the Arenaev page, Monday, November 27, the CEO of Mercedes-Benz, Ola Kallenius, claims that this car can outperform his colleagues who use conventional engines in off-road greatness. In fact, the manufacturer has clearly shown the car's ability, where the CEO himself is driving.

On that occasion, Kallenius explained the unique development and features of this vehicle. Proudly, Kallenius stated that this electric reincarnation managed to maintain the distinctive appearance of G-Class.

In testing the development team at Mount Schoeckl in Graz, Austria, the birthplace of G-Class, off-roader of electricity, underwent a tiring series of trials, including climbing and descending mountains 336 times. This car managed to showcase its greatness on the off-road terrain thanks to the new drivetrain concept featuring four electric motors, one in each wheel.

Mercedes is not only focused on off-road capabilities, but also presents a new battery technology that is expected to increase energy density by 20 to 40 percent, compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries. This advancement could significantly expand the range of vehicles, a crucial aspect for off-roader electric enthusiasts.

G-Class is known for its toughness, and the potential for electric variants to match or even surpass traditional models in off-road capabilities is a significant attraction. This marks an important shift in the automotive landscape towards electrification without decreasing performance.

Although the launch date remains secret, industry observers speculate that the car will hit the market by 2024, most likely as a 2025 model.
