Toyota Century SUV Priced Expensive, Toyoda: Resting This Car Is Suitable For Young People

The high demand for utility vehicles made Toyota launch a Century SUV whose previous generation was a sedan.

The manufacturer priced the SUV high at 25 million yen or equivalent to Rp. 2.6 billion. Thus, Toyota is eyeing the market from the executive or royal family for this model. But the company's leader, Akio Toyoda, has a different view.

"I think this model is also suitable for the younger generation and those who previously felt that Century was not for them," Toyoda was quoted as saying by the Toyota Times, Wednesday, October 4.

Toyoda added that in recent years, young executives have emerged who are starting to have premium models such as Alphard and Vellfire. This is what makes him confident that Century SUVs will attract these groups.

Young people's markets that can afford vehicles such as Century SUVs are relatively small, although the price is much cheaper than other luxury models, such as Bentley Bentayga or Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

Toyota has also confirmed that it will offer many personalization options for Century SUV, even producing one-off variants based on demand, including the Cabriolet version.

The Century SUV has a very magnificent and elegant appearance with a large gate panel flowing through the side body. The large size comes from a length of 5,205 mm, a width of 1,990 mm, a height of 1,805 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. The Century can accommodate four people.

The SUV is coated with elegant black exterior colors with chrom accents on the body and LED lights that provide maximum lighting. Meanwhile, details such as embedding lights and luxury elements in the D pillar, as well as a strong elegant character, make Century SUV have similarities in design language with Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

Carrying Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) technology, this luxury car has a 0.5 liter V6 engine, which produces up to 406 dk of powerful performance while maintaining a silent rider that is suitable for Century. The new PHEV system is also designed to function as a BEV for daily use and as an HEV for long-distance travel.

The machine is in collaboration with the e-CVT transmission developed by Toyota with an all-wheel drive system or E-Four Advanced. This car can drive with pure electric power up to 69 km.
