Comparison Of Two Premium Hybrid SUVs: Mazda CX-60 Vs Lexus NX 350h Luxury

JAKARTA - This year, hybrid-tech SUVs are busy launching in Indonesia. The combination of gasoline and electric engines makes this type of car have different fuel efficiency from other vehicles including its environmentally friendly advantages.

The CX-60 SUV, for example, debuted in Indonesia last July, was introduced as Mazda's first hybrid car. This car also marks Mazda's first step in exploring the premium car segment in the Indonesian market. However, competition in this segment is not easy, with one of its strong competitors being Lexus NX 350h Luxury, which was introduced in 2022. This five-passenger car comes with a number of advanced technologies, including a hybrid system that has been proven from Toyota.

How is the comparison and competition of this premium hybrid SUV segment in Indonesia? The following is a review based on VOI's search, Monday, October 2.

Dimension

In terms of size, Mazda CX-60 has an advantage with a wider space and different luxury offers. The SUV has a length of 4,740 mm, a width of 2,134 mm, a height of 1,680 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,870 mm.

On the other hand, the Lexus NX 350h Luxury has a slightly smaller dimension, with a length of 4,660 mm, a width of 1,865 mm, a height of 1,670 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,690 mm.

Safety Features

In terms of providing security for users, Mazda CX-60 has an advantage with airbag features on several sides. Other features include ABS, Brake Assist, Electronic Brake Distribution, Parking Sensors, Rearview Camera, and Vehicle Stability Control. All of this is coupled with Hill Launch Assist, Dynamic Stability Control, and Track Control System.

Although not as many as its competitors, NX 350h has 10 airbags, which is the highest number compared to its competitors. In addition, Lexus also provides these SUVs with features such as ABS, Brave Assist, Electronic Brake Distribution, Parking Sensors, Rearview Camera, and Vehicle Stability Control.

Machine Performance

When some competitors chose to reduce the engine capacity, Mazda actually increased the engine dimension with impressive performance. Powered by a 3.3 liter 6-cylinder e-Skyactiv-G turbocharged engine combined with a 48V mild-hybrid system, CX-60 is capable of generating up to 280 dk of power and a 450 Nm torque thanks to eight acceleration automatic transmission.

On the other hand, Lexus NX 350h Luxury has a smaller engine, which is 2.5 liters 4-cylinder with a battery with a capacity of 259V. This SUV produces up to 240 dk of power and a peak torque of 270 Nm thanks to the automatic CVT Hybrid Transaxle transmission system.

Price

In terms of prices, both have a competitive price range. Mazda sells CX-60 at a price of around Rp1.18 billion on the Jakarta OTR for theEVine Edition and Elite Edition variants.

Meanwhile, the Lexus NX350h Luxury has a higher price, reaching around Rp1.4 billion.

Conclusion

Both cars compete in premium SUV classes and have their own advantages. Mazda CX-60 excels in terms of space and variety of safety features, while Lexus NX 350h Luxury has an advantage in the proven fuel-efficient hybrid technology of Toyota. The choice between the two depends on the preferences and personal needs of consumers.
