Liked In Europe Polestar 2 More Than 150,000 Units In Three Years, What Are The Excess?

Jakarta - The Swedish automotive company Polestar recently announced the extraordinary achievements of one of its models, Polestar 2, which has reached sales of more than 150,000 units in three years.

Polestar 2 is the first electric car introduced by Polestar in 2020 in China, following the success of previous models, Polestar 1, which carries Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) technology.

Reporting from InsideEVs on Thursday, August 24, Polestar 2 has sold more than 20,000 units in the UK during the January to July 2023 period, recording a significant increase of up to 174 percent. In the UK Polestar 2 is priced from 44,950-63,950 pounds or Rp865 million-Rp1.2 billion.

In addition, Polestar 2 also recorded impressive achievements in Europe by pocketing a sales figure of 100,000 units, and its last unit was recently handed over to customers in Dublin, Ireland. This shows how important the European market is to this brand.

Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath explained that his party had introduced an upgraded version of Polestar 2 with an increase in various aspects compared to the previous version.

"With improved software, better quality, longer range, and faster charging, this is the basis for us to continue to develop our business," Thomas said.

The upgraded version of Polestar 2 was announced last January. This update includes electric motors that are more efficient with all-wheel drive, available rear wheels driving, and larger battery capacities, namely 82 kWh.

With this improved component, Polestar 2 which is equipped with 82 kWh of battery and a single electric motor at the back is capable of reaching a distance of up to 654 km.

Like other automotive manufacturers, Polestar is also preparing several electric-model lines, including Polestar 3, which is a large SUV that is likely to use the base of Volvo EX90.

Apart from being produced in China, Polestar 3 will also be assembled in the United States, precisely at a factory located in feasibility, South Carolina. Like Volvo, Polestar also plans to expand the reach of its electric vehicles to the rest of the world.

In addition to Polestar 3, there is also Polestar 4, a sporty-style crossover that was launched in 2023 and is claimed to have a distance of more than 600 km in one charge.

Polestar will also provide two sports cars, namely Polestar 5, a Grand Tourer (GT) with four doors, and Polestar 6, which is a premium 2+2 roadster.
