LBH Jakarta Reveals Anies Baswedan Ingkar Promises On Evictions In Today's Memory, October 18, 2021

JAKARTA Memories of today, four years ago, October 18, 2021, the Jakarta Legal Aid Institute (LBH) said the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, broke his promise about evictions. Anies is considered not much different from other DKI Jakarta leaders who continue to use the method of displacing.

Previously, the 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada became an event for Anies to spread political promises. He promised not to displace Jakarta residents. Penggusuran in his eyes was considered only to bring misery. As a result, Anies was popular and elected governor of DKI Jakarta.

Political contestation only knows two things: losing and winning. Those who are able to win the people's votes so have a great opportunity to win. Those who can't win support will certainly lose.

Anies Baswedan clearly does not want to be a loser. The former Minister of Education and Culture from the 2014-2016 era continues to think so that he can win in the DKI Jakarta Pilkada. He and his supporting parties began to work on programs and political promises.

Anies's best-known political promise is that he will not use the displacing option to curb his citizens. Anies considers displacing is tantamount to suffering the citizens of Jakarta. The government that he considers displacing does not take the fate of the small people seriously.

They seem to be seen as like goods. He didn't want to be like that. Anies also has a slogan: the welfare of the city is happy for its citizens. This condition made Anies not like the concept of displacing. Anies, if you have to put it in order, this step is called a fabrication.

He considers residential affairs to be arranged. The person will be relocated and re-located when it is done. However, not all agree with Anies' idea. Many also think that Anies' style is not displacing but arranging is the same thing. the point is still displacing too.

Later that promise became one of the things that made Anies win the 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada. He was then able to move up to become the new Governor of DKI Jakarta.

"The current governor (Basuki Tjahaja Purnama : Ahok) often evictions. If we are arranged to become a clean and beautiful village. Regarding evictions, when discussed properly, there is a solution. We all know that there is a bigger interest.

"If there is a legal basis, everyone is willing. The important thing is that residents must be respected, respected. In the future, we promise to prioritize dialogue. Anies' promise was then tested when he became Governor of DKI Jakarta. However, reality is actually another period. Anies is not much different from other Jakarta leaders who like the people. LBH Jakarta even revealed that Anies had broken promises about evictions on October 18, 2021.

Many LBHs found forced evictions of Jakarta residents from the beginning of Anies' tenure. LBH revealed that from January to September 2018 alone there had been various evictions. There were 23 evictions in South Jakarta. Central Jakarta 22 points. East Jakarta 10 points. North Jakarta and West Jakarta 12 points.

"Regarding evictions, we know that Anies Baswedan rose to governor with the promise not to force Jakarta residents. Anies also promised to eliminate evictions as ways, practices that often occur in Jakarta".
