Ahok EMPHASIZED That The Government Does Not Need IPDN Graduates In Today's History, September 8, 2015

JAKARTA History today, 10 years ago, September 8, 2015, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) emphasized that the government does not need graduates from the Institute of Domestic Administration (IPDN). Ahok considers IPDN graduates to have mediocre performance. Nothing special.

Previously, IPDN was like a factory that produced many state servants. The existence is large, but also problematic. The number of violence is because of high seniority. This condition makes IPDN a hotbed of violence. Ahok asked Jokowi to disband IPDN.

IPDN is often considered as a red carpet, someone can become a servant of the state. They have a great opportunity to support the government from the village to city level. This exclusive feeling makes young people from various regions flock to enter IPDN.

The test is tight. The process didn't take long. Those who received it were limited. However, that does not mean that IPDN is smooth, no problem. The seniority and culture of violence in the institution has never been lost. Take for example data from 1993 to 2007.

Violence in IPDN resulted in 35 deaths. The majority of cases resulting from bullying from seniors and juniors. This condition makes all Indonesian people ask the government to pay more attention to IPDN.

They want major changes in IPDN, especially seniority and violence. This condition makes people's trust in IPDN graduates decrease. Instead of being considered able to work well in the government, IPDN graduates actually lose to general campus graduates.

Gamawan Fauzi tried to listen to criticism of IPDN. The Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) from the 2009-2013 era promised to solve the problem of violence which has become a tradition in IPDN.

"IPDN officials are educated not for war, but must protect themselves. Shifting the paradigm that has developed into a new paradigm."

"Once again I emphasize, there will be no reluctance for (students) who violate to be dealt with. We leave this matter behind, we will improve our mental attitude," said Gamawan Fauzi as quoted on the Ministry of Home Affairs website, August 28, 2013.

Violence in IPDN still occurs. The people again demanded that the government overhaul IPDN. The harshest criticism came from Ahok on September 8, 2015. The Governor of DKI Jakarta, who recently asked President Jokowi to dissolve IPDN, even assumed that the government no longer needed IPDN graduates.

Ahok considers that IPDN graduates are nothing special. His performance is not much different from that of other campus graduates. In fact, other campus graduates can be much superior. The proof that so far many IPDN children in the government have not made Indonesia develop a lot.

"In my opinion, the ASN Law does not provide privileges to IPDN. Now the ASN Law has spoken privately. IPDN exists when there is no ASN Law. So the spirit of the ASN Law, no longer needs IPDN. So if there are members of the DPR who talk like that (don't agree) right, I am a member of the DPR RI first Commission II. And I am also the formulating team that drafted the ASN Law. .

"In the past, the village head, sub-district head, can it not be from IPDN? It's not allowed first. The aides of all IPDN must be. Now the village head, sub-district head, where come from? Auction. Now I am auctioned (called) violating the rules. In the past, IPDN alumni protested when I was auctioned. Why do I dare to auction? Because there is a basis for the ASN Law," Ahok said at City Hall as quoted on the Suara.com page, September 8, 2015.
