Jokowi Calls For Arrest Of KKB Papua In Today's Memory, 26 April 2021

JAKARTA - Today's memory, four years ago, April 26, 2021, President Jokowi ordered the TNI Commander and the National Police Chief to pursue and arrest the Papuan armed criminal group (KKB). The call was made as a form of breaking the chain of rebellion.

Previously, the conflict of rebellion in Papua was not new. Papua's condition, which is often the stepchild of development, is one of the causes. Many people think that they are free from Indonesia is the best option. An option that made the rebellion appear and casualties fell.

Conditions in Papua are not doing well. The government's conflict with KKB often occurs. The narrative confirms that the problems present in Papua are quite severe. The cause is believed to be due to various problems.

The narrative of dissatisfaction with the Indonesian government is the main thing. The Indonesian government is considered to have made Papua like a stepchild. All because the development and narrative of welfare have never been blown to Papua.

The rebellion was launched by local residents. They want Papua to be free from Indonesia. The rebellion led to the KKB. Terror operations were carried out everywhere. Since then some areas of Papua have no longer calmed down.

The area continues to be volatile, even closely guarded because the TNI-Polri and KKB often intersect. Grief between the two sides is not small. Take for example when Indonesia mourned the Head of the Regional State Intelligence Agency or Head of BIN Papua, I Gusti Putu Danny Nugraha Karya was killed in a shootout with KKB in Daungbet Village, Beoga District, Puncak, Papua on April 25, 2021.

Gusti's death brought deep wounds to the Indonesian government. Gusti is considered a hero who maintains Indonesia's sovereignty. As a form of appreciation, President Jokowi immediately promoted Gusti to one level higher.

Jokowi did not forget to express his deep condolences. He did not want a similar incident to continue.

"The state will award a promotion to one level higher for the dedication and sacrifice of Brigadier General I Gusti Putu Danny. Let's pray that the spirit of the late Brigadier General TNI I Gusti Putu Danny will have the best place in the side of God Almighty," said Jokowi as quoted by the Tempo.co page, April 26, 2021.

It may be that Jokowi and all Indonesian people are grieving. However, that does not mean that the TNI and Polri must slow down their resistance to the KKB. Jokowi instructed the TNI Commander and the National Police Chief to pursue and arrest the Papuan KKB on April 26, 2021.

Jokowi revealed that there is no place for KKB in Papua and all corners of Indonesia. The rebellion must be extinguished. Everything is in order to maintain the integrity of the nation and state. The KKB must be crushed so that security is maintained.

"I emphasize that there is no place for armed criminal groups in Papua or in all corners of the country," said Jokowi as quoted on the CNBC website, April 26, 2021.
