JAKARTA - Coldplay officially released their latest album, Music of the Spheres on Friday, October 15, Indonesian time.
Through its new release, Coldplay takes the theme of the galaxy and breaks the boundaries between humans. In addition, they also want to emphasize that humans must take care of each other because we are in the same universe.
“We are just a small ball in a big realm. We need to take care of each other and the planet too,” said drummer Will Champion, quoting AP News on Friday, October 15.
The idea for this album was created when the COVID-19 pandemic thwarted a number of plans. At that time they had just completed the A Head Full of Dreams tour which had been running since 2017.
Music of the Spheres contains 12 songs with some tracks just emoji-titled. They also do a lot of collaborations with musicians like Selena Gomez, BTS, and Jacob Collier.
This time they were assisted by hits producer Max Martin, who is known as the person who wrote several hit songs.

“As a band, we always fill in the gaps. We colored it with lots of layers, thick strings, and synths. And one of the reasons we're relieved to work with Max is that he's a conscious person not to fill in too many gaps,” said Champion.
Coldplay realized this album will be different from previous releases and not necessarily a favorite of many people.
"It's not for everyone, but some people will enjoy a film-like concept, like us, because we've never done anything like this before."
Chris Martin also said that this album still has elements of a popular band with optimistic lyrics but overall Music of the Spheres talks about being human and living on a wide planet.
The Music of the Spheres album can be heard both physically and digitally starting Friday, October 15.
