JAKARTA - AC / DC rock legends launched a new video series, The Story Of Back In Black as part of the 40th anniversary of their classic album, Back In Black, released last year 4O. The first two episodes in the series, which focus on the songs You Shook Me All Night Long and Hells Bells, are already available.
Last December, Back in Black was certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for achieving sales of 25 million copies in the United States (US).
Back in Black was first certified platinum in October 1980 and was previously certified 22 times platinum in December 2007. The RIAA listed Back In Black as the fourth best-selling album of all time.
On 25 July 1980, AC / DC released Back In Black in the US, followed by the release of the album in the UK on 31 July. It was AC / DC's first album without lead singer Bon Scott who had died months earlier choking on his own vomit after drinking all night.
The band, which was formed in Syndey, Australia in 1973, quickly decided to recruit Brian Johnson from the band Geordie to replace Scott. Then, they headed to the Bahamas for about six weeks to record the album.
AC / DC had made significant progress in America prior to Scott's death, but no one knows how Back In Black will gain the acceptance of a global rock audience.
Johnson told The Pulse of Radio he had no clue how much Back In Black would change the fortunes of AC / DC and the world of rock.
"I just joined there, and I don't know if it's good or bad," he said. "It was the first time I was in the Bahamas, or anywhere near America, you know, and you (should) remember, I was just blown away by the whole culture and all, and I don't know what the hell I was doing! And (laughs) ) lucky, really - I was a little lucky, I think. "
Back In Black includes the single You Shook Me All Night Long, which broke through No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Back In Black which occupies No. 37.

Despite great success, the album never got higher than No. 4 on the album charts. Their next album, For Those About to Rock reached No. 1.
Back In Black was produced by Robert "Mutt" Lange, who went on to produce albums from Def Leppard, Foreigner, The Cars, and Bryan Adams. In 2012, Back In Black was added to The Recording Academy's Grammy Hall Of Fame collection.
Recently, AC / DC launched various new merchandise to celebrate Back In Black's 40th anniversary.
