Cinema Cancel Open July 29, 2020

JAKARTA - The government has decided to postpone the opening of the cinema which was previously scheduled for July 29. Head of the DKI Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf), Cucu Ahmad Kurnia said that his party had considered this decision.

"Because the condition of COVID-19 in Jakarta is not yet stable, (cases) have risen again, so we are waiting for the time to get really conducive," said Cucu.

Reportedly, this cancellation has been conveyed to the cinemas in Jakarta. They can understand the cancellation considering the situation has not recovered.

Apart from the cinema, indoor entertainment venues such as bowling and billiards have not been allowed to reopen.

Previously, they gave permission for the cinema to reopen with a note that there were health protocols that needed to be carried out by visitors and business travelers.

The public and the cinema received this joy again. They even gave a glimpse of what films will be broadcast during this transitional period.

But unfortunately the plan had to be canceled due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the capital. Today, Thursday, July 16, the government reported 312 new cases adding to the total of 15,635 cases.

Cucu has not been able to report whether this cancellation applies in Jakarta and outside Jakarta. However, even if a cinema outside Jakarta opens, it will likely be difficult for them to show the latest films.

On the other hand, the postponement of the opening of this cinema has also been carried out until an undetermined time limit.
