Squid Game Becomes The First Ranked Korean Series In The United States

JAKARTA - The Squid Game series was released last week via the Netflix streaming service. In less than a week, the series has received great attention from audiences around the world.

Launching the Flix Patrol website, Squid Game was ranked first in the Top 10 Netflix in the United States. This series beat the Sex Education series which was released on the same day.

Not only that, Squid Game also holds the highest record for a Korean series released internationally. Previously, there was the Sweet Home series from Netflix which was ranked third in the United States.

Besides the US, Squid Game also won first place in Hong Kong, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and South Korea.

Squid Game is the latest series directed by Hwang Dong Hyuk which was released on September 17. The series tells the story of people's struggles to compete to win 45.6 billion won.

The series focuses on Ki-hoon (Lee Jung Jae), a man who is in debt and has no money. He entered the Squid Game competition in order to pay off his debt but behind that he had to risk his life.

Besides Lee Jung Jae, this series also stars Park Hae Soo, Jung Ho Yeon, Wi Ha Joon, Oh Young Soo, and Heo Sung Tae, and others.

The nine-episode Squid Game can be watched exclusively on Netflix.
