'Running Man' Becomes The Longest Variety Show In South Korea

JAKARTA - Running Man is the longest South Korean variety show of all time.

On the latest episode that aired on Sunday, August 15, the production staff shared this good news with the Running Man members.

“There is good news for members to celebrate. With the broadcast of yesterday's episode (one episode before filming), we became the longest variety show", said the director to the members.

“Previously Infinite Challenge right? We broke the record", replied comedian Yang Se Chan.

Yoo Jae Suk who is also a member of Infinite Challenge explained, “If you look at the year, Infinite Challenge ran two years longer, but there were times when the show didn't air because of things like a network strike”.

However, the Running Man show has more episodes than Infinite Challenge.

As the name implies, Running Man is a South Korean variety show that airs on SBS. This event was first broadcast on July 11, 2020. Over time, they changed the concept with a focus on missions and games.

This show has members namely Yoo Jae Suk, Kim Jong Kook, Ji Seok Jin, Haha, Lee Kwang Soo, Kang Gary, Song Ji Hyo, and Song Joong Ki. It is known that Lee Kwang Soo, Kang Gary, and Song Joong Ki left the show because they wanted to focus on their careers.

In 2017, actress Jeon So Min and comedian Yang Se Chan joined as permanent members of Running Man.

On the other hand, they will be holding a fan meeting event held online. Running Man 2021 Online Fanmeeting will be held on September 5 via TikTok and can be watched by fans around the world.
