Ken Zuraida, WS Rendra's Wife Died, This Is The Cause

JAKARTA - Ken Zuraida bint Edi Suardi, the wife of the poet WS Rendra, passed away, Monday, August 9. The 67-year-old woman died after battling her illness at Antam Medika Hospital, East Jakarta. Ken Zuraida, daughter of Ken Zuraida and WS Rendra shared the sad information via Instagram Story.

"Innailaihi wa inna Ilaihi roji'uun. Our beloved sister/brother/mother/grandmother has passed away, mother Ken Zuraida bt Edi Suardi. Sorry for all the mistakes of the deceased, both intentionally/unintentionally," wrote Maryam Supraba, Monday, 9 August.

Condolences poured in on social media. One of them is from Ulin Yusron through his Twitter account.

"Innailaihi wa inna Ilaihi roji'uun. Ms. Ken Zuraida bint Edi Suardi (wife of WS. Rendra's wife) has passed away. Died on Monday, 8:57 at Antam Medika Hospital. Swargaloka Mbak Ida. wrote Ulin Yusron through the @ulinyusron account.

During the pandemic, many people assume that people who died in hospitals were due to COVID-19. However, judging from some of the uploads on social media, Ken Zuraida died not because of COVID-19.

"Please pray for mba Ida (Ken Zuraida, Mas Rendra's wife) who is being treated," wrote theater artist Rudolf Putra on Twitter, August 3.

"Thankfully it wasn't Covid-19, but the lungs were shrinking at the Antam Hospital, East Jakarta," he added at the time.

Many prayed for Ken Zuraida's recovery, but God had other plans. Today, the wife of WS Rendra followed her husband who had already died in 2009.
