Actress Meisya Amira revealed the heavy challenges she had to face in the latest film project titled Juminten Edan. In this film, Meisya is trusted to play a character who has physical limitations as a deaf-mute and deaf-mute.
"If you become a deaf-mute and also a deaf-mute, I think it's very difficult, very challenging because I've never studied before, only this time," said Meisya Amira in South Jakarta, Thursday, July 16.
Meisya admitted that playing a character without voice dialogue requires deeper acting skills. He must rely on facial expressions and body movements to convey a message to the audience.
"What I also think is challenging is how I have to express everything without dialogue. From the eyes, emotions, everything is really done with sign language," he explained.
In order to present an authentic performance, Meisya had to go through a long preparation period. He and other players underwent a special training session for several weeks.
"Here we have coaching and we also learn together for two weeks, with Mas Dimas and Sharon. And that, according to me, is a new experience and a new learning as well," said Meisya.
Meisya explained that the workshop process was carried out intensively with the guidance of professional personnel. The production team even brought in a trainer who was an expert in his field.
"Yes, we have a workshop with two weeks with a coach who is actually deaf. So it's really intense to learn and there is one day I actually specifically learn sign language," he said again.
Although he had difficulty at first, Meisya did not give up. He regularly practiced every scene that would be taken the next day so that his gesture movements looked natural in front of the camera.
"So there is also practice, so let's say tomorrow there is a scene, I have to practice the day before. And after a while, the reflex is like that. So everything can be because it's used to it," concluded Meisya Amira.
In addition to Meisya Amira, the film Juminten Edan will also be starred by Dimas Aditya, Sharon Jovian, Anne J. Cotto, to Kukuh Prasetya. The film, produced by Mercusuar Film and Digital Frame Production, will be released on July 23.
