JAKARTA - Asset management is one of the important keys to increasing the value of an area, not least cultural assets.

If managed properly, museums and cultural heritage sites not only serve as a place to store history, but can also become an educational space as well as an attractive destination for the wider community.

Minister of Culture Fadli Zon encourages local governments to improve the management of cultural assets in their regions so that they can attract more visitors and have an impact on increasing literacy and community welfare.

"We also encourage the provincial, district, city governments to improve their cultural assets, yes, improve their museums, with their cultural reserves," said Fadli in Jakarta, Monday, May 4.

He explained that these efforts can be carried out through collaboration between local governments with the Ministry of Culture, other ministries and institutions, to the private sector, to strengthen the management of cultural assets in each region.

According to Fadli, his party also continues to provide support for the revitalization program as well as the promotion of museums and cultural heritage sites so that they are increasingly sought after by the public.

Throughout 2025, the Ministry of Culture has revitalized 152 museums and cultural heritage sites in various regions. Some of them include the Gunongan Site, Arjuna Temple, Tiger Cave Museum, and Kayu Jao Mosque.

In addition, cooperation was also carried out to revitalize the Sanggabuwana Stage and renovate the Ranggawarsita Tomb.

Data from the Ministry of Culture shows that throughout 2025, the total number of visits to 18 museums and 34 cultural heritage sites managed by the Technical Implementation Unit reached 4,322,507 people.

According to Restu Gunawan, this figure has increased compared to the previous year which was in the range of 3.8 to 3.9 million visitors in 2024.
