JAKARTA - The good news came again from the world of performing arts in the country. Not kidding, seven talented Indonesian children were selected to perform at one of the most prestigious stages in the world, Carnegie Hall, New York.
They are sure to enliven the prestigious event The New York Pops 43rd Anniversary Gala which is scheduled to take place on April 27, 2026. An achievement that proves that young Indonesian talents have class at the global level.
The seven names that will bring the name of this nation are Alyra Karissia Riza (13), Alysa Hana Mayko (13), Anastasia Christina Karunia (15), Gianna Anabelle Soetikno (13), Jenna Kalila Marciano (12), and Natasha Marianne Subari (16). Not to forget, there is Carissa Bellvania (13) who also underwent intensive training to perform with the Camp Broadway Ensemble.
Of course, tickets to New York are not easy to get. They had to set aside dozens of other participants through a very strict and selective audition process.
This success is the result of high dedication. During the preparation period, the participants were forged with vocal training, acting, to very disciplined dance choreography.
Camp Broadway Indonesia Artistic Director, Adit Marciano, expressed his pride in the extraordinary progress of his students. According to him, this program is designed not only to perform, but to provide a real professional experience.
"We want to give them a real life experience working with industry professionals, as well as knowing what it feels like to reach that level," said Adit in a virtual interview session at @America, Central Jakarta, Saturday, April 11.
Adit added that Indonesian talent is not inferior. "This is the result of the passion and love we pour. We want to show the world that our young talent has quality and extensive knowledge with international standards," he said.
The presence of top singer Lea Simanjuntak as a mentor gives a special injection of spirit. Lea admitted that he was very impressed with the attitude and ability to harmonize these seven children.
"When I walked into the room, they were already very open. It was a really nice experience," Lea said.
One thing that impressed Lea was their cohesiveness. No one was trying to stand out; all focused on the beauty of the group's harmony.
"Their voices sound so beautiful and unified. It's not easy to do that in a group, and I'm very proud of it," he added.
Lea also gave a touching message to perform without burden. "The important thing is to perform with all your heart. The audience's response is beyond our control, the main thing is honesty in working."
This year, The New York Pops 43rd Anniversary Gala will feel very special. This event is dedicated as a form of tribute to Stephen Schwartz, a legendary figure behind iconic Broadway works such as Wicked, Godspell, and Pippin.
Appearing in front of world-class musicians and international theater industry figures is certainly a big stepping stone for the careers of these seven children. Through the facilities of Camp Broadway Indonesia, they are ready to prove that the cultural identity and hard work of Indonesian youth can shine brightly in the heart of New York City.
