BANTEN - Efforts to address stunting in Lebak Regency, Banten, continue to be strengthened through various integrated programs that target pregnant women to toddlers.
The local government assesses that early prevention is the key to ensuring that children grow healthy and optimally, as well as improving the quality of human resources in the future.
The Lebak Regency Government is intensifying the Stunting Prevention Movement as part of this strategy. Acting Head of Public Health Services, Lebak Regency Health Office, dr Firman Rahmatullah, emphasized that this program is aimed at strengthening the quality of child growth and development in the region.
"This Stunting Prevention Movement is to support the growth and development of children in the Lebak area, as well as being part of efforts to realize Indonesia's Gold 2045," said Dr. Firman in Lebak, Monday.
He explained that health promotion socialization continues to be intensified to increase public understanding of stunting prevention and treatment. The program will be implemented in 28 sub-districts, including Rangkasbitung and Curugbitung.
In addition to the Stunting Prevention Movement, the local government also carries out the Healthy Pregnant Mother Movement (GIHS) and the Anemia Prevention Movement (GCA) in schools. Through GCA, anemia screening is carried out by checking hemoglobin levels to detect early red blood cell deficiency in students.
"If the students are positive for anemia, they will be treated by the local health center and referred to the hospital," he said.
The handling of stunting is also carried out through specific interventions based on the latest guidelines of the Ministry of Health regarding the management of toddlers with nutritional problems. Medical actions are carried out in hospitals by pediatric specialists, with the support of obstetricians and gynecologists for assistance and the provision of processed food milk for special medical purposes (PKMK).
According to Dr. Firman, prevention is not only carried out through medical services, but also continuous education and the provision of supplementary food made from local food at posyandu.
Based on the latest data, the number of toddlers who are recorded to have stunted in Lebak Regency reached 4,124 children or 5.66 percent of the total target of 105,230 toddlers based on data collection by name by address. Meanwhile, the results of the weighing as of January 29, 2026 recorded 72,888 children have been recorded.
"We are optimistic that Lebak can be free of stunting if all parties collaborate for stunting treatment and prevention," said Dr. Firman.
