Emma Stone's New Film Cruella Hits Theaters Starting Today

JAKARTA - Emma Stone's latest film Cruella hits Indonesian cinemas starting today, May 26.

Cruella's film chronicles the life of Cruella de Vill (Emma Stone) before becoming obsessed with dalmatian dog skin. Cruella was originally a fashion designer in London in 1970 who had a successful career.

But an incident changed her personality. Cruella becomes a cruel woman and begins to obsess over the skin of a Dalmatian dog.

In this latest film, Disney decided not to connect the story of Dalmatian 101 with Cruella.

"We just wanted to create an original version of this and didn't want to add anything to my vision. Very unique in particular, it's an original story set in London in the '70s", says Craig Gillespie, director of Cruella.

In addition to Stone, Cruella co-stars Mark Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, Jamie Demetriou, Joel Fry, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste.

Disney first featured the character Cruella in the 101 Dalmatians in 1996. At the time, Cruella was portrayed as a villain with no background story.

Cruella's film is not only in theaters, but also a Disney Plus streaming service with a Premiere Access feature. This feature requires viewers to pay an additional fee to watch Cruella.
