JAKARTA - Towards the year-end holiday period, the enthusiasm of the Indonesian people for the holidays remains high. RedDoorz, Southeast Asia's largest multi- brand accommodation platform, has just released the results of its latest consumer survey with the theme Domestic vs International. This survey shows how tourist preferences develop ahead of the turn of the year.

Of the 307 respondents, 84% of tourists have planned year-end holidays, insisting that the holiday season remains an important moment for the majority of society. Social media is still the main source of information in planning travel, followed by Google, family recommendations, and the AI platform.

The survey results also reveal that domestic travel is an option of 86.6% of tourists, much higher than only 13.4% who choose international holidays. Domestic tourism is considered more affordable and practical, easier to plan, and offers shorter travel distances.

Yogyakarta is the most popular domestic destination, followed by Bandung, Bali, and Jakarta. Tourists say that the choice of accommodation that is diverse and pocket-friendly is also the reason for high interest in vacationing in the country. Hotel budgets occupy the top position of accommodation preference, in line with the budget per night, which is mostly in the range of 300 to 500 thousand rupiah.

Meanwhile, interest in international travel remains visible even though it is not as big as domestic. Japan and Thailand dominate as favorite destination countries, followed by Singapore and Malaysia. Tourists who choose to go abroad are driven by the desire to seek new experiences, aviation promos, currency exchange rates, and travel trends on social media. The year-end holiday duration is mostly in the range of 3 to 4 days, which was chosen by 41% of respondents.

In the release of this live stream report, the travel lifestyle influencer Dimas Ramadhan also gave his views on differences in domestic and international holidays. Domestic holidays are simple and suitable for fast refreshing, but if you want a different perspective and exploration, overseas always has its own charm. Preparation is indeed longer, especially regarding itinerary and budgeting," said Dimas.

Mohit Gandas, Country Director of RedDoorz, assesses that Indonesian tourists are increasingly being planned in determining their vacation destinations. "Tourists are now more aware of the value, cost, and ease of access. Our data show that vacation decisions are greatly influenced by cost factors and promos, but at the same time they are still looking for meaningful experiences. Both domestic and international, each has its own appeal," said Mohit.
