Vadel Badjideh Laughs Hearing His Verdict Rise, Lawyers Ready To Fight Up To The Seventh Sky

JAKARTA - Vadel Badjideh showed an unexpected response when he heard that his appeal was raised to 12 years in prison for an alleged abortion case.

According to his attorney, Oya Abdul Malik, Vadel just laughed and thought the law in Indonesia was funny.

"His response was just laughing. He said, 'It's funny, it's legal for us'," said Oya, imitating his client's words at the South Jakarta District Court, Tuesday, November 25.

A similar reaction was also shown by the family who felt that justice was not in their favor.

Facing this decision, Oya Abdul Malik stated that he would not give up. He emphasized that he would continue to fight for his client's legal rights to the highest level.

"Kasisi. Saya kata saya tidak akan pernah berhenti sampai kepusan kejuduh," ujarnya dengan semangat.

This struggle is based on his belief that the facts of the trial do not reflect the existing verdict.

Oya also highlighted the High Court's Public Relations statement that Fadel showed no remorse. He strongly denied this by stating that Fadel had apologized publicly and in the courtroom.

"How come there are no regrets? You are not in the room! The defendant apologized, he was accepted by the victim's child," said Oya.

With a burning spirit, Oya Abdul Malik has registered a memorandum of cassation. He hopes that the truth will eventually find its way, even though it has to fight to the "seventh exorbitant".

For information, the DKI Jakarta High Court (PT) has increased the sentence for content creator Vadel Badjideh in cases of sexual intercourse with minors and illegal abortions.

In the appeal decision read out on November 5, 2025, the panel of judges led by Sri Andini, SH, MH sentenced Vadel to 12 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion. If the fine is not paid, it will be replaced with imprisonment for 6 months.

"The defendant was sentenced to 12 (twelve) years in prison and a fine of Rp1,000,000,000, - (one billion rupiah), if the fine was not paid, it was replaced with imprisonment for 6 (six) months," reads the verdict, quoted by VOI, Thursday, November 6.

The panel of judges at the appeal level considered that Vadel's actions caused deep trauma to the victim and showed strong malicious intent (mens rea).

"The defendant's actions have clearly caused deep trauma to the victim's child, also affecting the condition of the victim's child in the future," the judge considered in the decision.

This decision also changes the verdict of the South Jakarta District Court Number 359 / Pid.Sus / 2025 / PN Jkt.Sel, which previously on October 1, 2025 sentenced him to 9 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 3 months in prison.
