Scarlett Johansson Stars In New Exorcist Film, Made By Mike Flanagan

JAKARTA - Actress Scarlett Johansson is predicted to be the main character in the latest film from the world of Exorcist directed by Mike Flanagan. This news was revealed by the director directly and at the same time clarifying the continuation of the horror film franchise.

"Scarlett is a brilliant actress whose performance feels real and grounded, from the film and blockbuster genres and I am very happy to be joining the film Exorcist," Mike Flanagan said in a statement quoting The Wrap.

Furthermore, Flanagan has not revealed what role Scarlett Johansson will play.

The film is produced by Mike Flanagan under the production house of Red Room Pictures and Blumhouse and Morgan Creek Entertainment for Universal Pictures.

Instead of making new stories, it is reported that Mike Flanagan is preparing an original story. This is related to the bad results received by the film The Exorcist: Believer in 2023.

The Exorcist is one of the reasons I became a filmmaker and it's an honor to have the opportunity to try something fresh, thick and terrifying in his world. Joining my friends at Blumhouse with those I'm proud of will make this film fun," said Mike Flanagan.

The Exorcist in 1973 adapted William Peter Blatty's novel of the same name and played by Linda Blair. The film tells the story of a mother who is seeking treatment for her child who is starting to show a change in attitude.

In 2021, Universal will get acquisition rights for the Exorcist trilogy but cancels the project after getting bad reviews in the film Believer.

Scarlett Johansson last acted through the film Jurassic World: Rebirth and made her directorial debut through the film kaburn the Great which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
