JAKARTA - Have a dream destination that turns out to be too crowded with tourists? A study from a safari travel company, Go2Africa revealed the five countries most visited by international tourists.

The number reaches hundreds of millions of visits every year. Although these countries do offer many attractions, it turns out that there are many other alternatives that are no less attractive, to calmer and more authentic.

Here are the 5 countries most visited in the world, as well as recommendations for places to avoid crowds and alternative destinations that can be an option, as reported by the Smarter Travel page.

1. France

France took the first position as the country most visited, with around 100 million international tourists last year. Paris became its main magnet, and there is even the Paris Syndrome term for describing tourists' disappointment with the city's expectations being too high.

However, France's appeal does not stop at the Eiffel Tower alone. The tour to 2,500 homes in North France or ski in the French Alps has also become the dream of many travelers. The goal to avoid crowds is Lyon.

Although it is the third largest city in France, Lyon is much calmer than Paris. The city is filled with beautiful Renaissance architecture, and you can enjoy leisurely sailing on the Rhmene and SaZone rivers.

2. Spain
